Ratljóst is a multi-site-specific installation created for an artist residency (Listhus Artspace) located in Ólafsfjörður, Iceland.
This neon installation delves into the idea of navigation, both physically and metaphorically through the word Ratljóst. Ratljóst is an obsolete Icelandic word that is seen uncommon in the modern era and cannot be directly translated to the English language. The closest direct definition is — enough light to see (navigate) the way.
Whilst being in Iceland from October 31-December 12 the amount of light drastically dropped from six hours to two and a half. This environmental aspect led to the creation of this piece and the wish to exhibit within various places within Ólafsfjörður, both indoor and outdoor.
This beacon of light not only serves as a physical light in the darkest sceneries but a spiritual navigation through the depth of the word and where you experience it.
Who am I? is a fragment of a extended study that I delved into at Can Serrat (an artist residency in El Bruc, Spain, August 1-22, 2018). This study focused on the idea of “SELF”.

Light Sense is an audio-visual installation that uses a circuit of interaction to activate various regions of the Merrill Ellis Intermedia Theatre. With a handmade laser harp at its center, the circuit uses information from the room, audience interaction, and the associated performer to control and activate lasers, acrylic sculptures, and a player piano. The work seeks to create a relationship between organic and electronic impulses, a combination that grows increasingly relevant as we continue to approach an unknown and technology-filled future.
At the tone, the time will be…is the title of a Intermedia performance I was involved in, Spring 2018. The text was displayed at the entrance of the MEIT (Merrill Ellis Intermedia Theatre, Denton, Texas) for all of the guests entering the MEIT. This work also correlated with various works inside such as Light Sense.
You are not Alone
You are not alone is a sculptural installation illuminating the words “ME TOO”. Each letter is 18” in height and bright pink in tone; they are mounted to the wall in such a way that they read backwards from right to left (OOT EM). The work is hung approximately 8-10’ from the ground, and a 2’x’2 mirror is found on the opposite wall of where the text is hung. The mirror will allow the viewer to view themselves with the words ME TOO reflected above and behind them, in the “correct format” rather than backwards.
neon, black acrylic
E2S1/S2 are of a series I started in 2017, by placing this organic neon sculpture within various environments to then document how it changes the space.
This is an ongoing series/experiment.
Deeper Than Skin
neon, 2-way mirror, motion sensor
Deeper Than Skin is a sculpture that opens the conversation of self worth and identity. Viewing yourself in the mirror, alongside the text of "Deeper than Skin" illuminated behind begins to arise the question of what is deeper than skin, what are you more than?
fabricated black acrylic
Folds is a three-dimensional representation of geometric planes intersecting and creating a single geometric form. The reflective quality that the acrylic displays, enhances the visual representation of these intersecting planes.
